Aussie real estate agent dies in crash with wife

Posted October 08, 2018 08:16:06 AUSTRALIA’S biggest real estate agents have died in a crash involving a private jet that crashed in central Italy, with the plane reportedly being flown by a private pilot.

The Australian-owned Hinchcliffe Property Group has confirmed the death of a former employee in the crash.

The crash, involving a single-engine turboprop plane, occurred near the town of Bari on Sunday afternoon.

The pilot was flown to hospital in Milan, Italy, but died of his injuries, the company said in a statement on Monday.

It said the plane, which was carrying around 30 people, landed in the city’s Cintra Airport shortly before 6pm local time.

The Italian Civil Aviation Authority said in an update that no one was on board.

“The Italian authorities have been informed and will conduct an investigation,” it said.

Hinchcliffe, which has been based in Australia for more than 50 years, had been offering its clients luxury properties in Italy and Spain.

The company said the cause of the crash was under investigation.
